Angelina looked amazing on her Christening day. She is so sweet and she has beautiful angelic features to photograph. Her face reminds me of a victorian painting. Mom, Lena, hired me because she waned to make sure this special occasion was documented. It’s such an important day and instead of being worried that someone was getting a picture she wanted to thoroughly enjoy herself. Hopefully this is the fist of many photo sessions I’ll have with Angelina because I can’t wait to see what a beautiful little girl she becomes.

I feel like part of Jenni and Steven’s extended family. I shot their e-session and then did her brother’s senior’s a few months ago (see JT’s post on September 9th) Anyway, I have gotten to know her and her mom pretty well and I was very excited for their wedding. It was a rainy Saturday, but the great thing about their church is there is a cool area under a roof in front to take pictures. The ceremony was conducted by Jenni’s uncle and was very special. Afterwards we hit the bar for some great pub shots, and continued to the reception at the Northville Hills Golf Club. It is SUCH a pretty place inside! It’s very intimate and romantic, I loved it. It kind of reminded me of Walden Woods.

I shot David and Erin’s engagements back in May and I was SOOOOOO excited to shoot at their family farm again. It is such a cool place with a ton of old barns and machinery. I have to say I was totally bummed that it was so cold, but David, Erin and their bridal party were troopers and let me get everything I wanted : )
I think my favorite moment of the day included neither the bride nor the groom. It rained while the ceremony was going on and everyone was supposed to have a hayride back to the farm, so all the guys in the bridal party were trying to flip over the bales of hay so that they would not be wet to sit on. They were having an awfully hard time, struggling to lift and turn each one over. That’s when Erin’s grandpa, a true farmer, came over and in 2 seconds showed them the proper technique for bale flipping : ) I have no idea why I find that so amusing, maybe it’s because he reminded me so much of my grandpa, a farmer thru and thru.
Another cool moment…the groom drove the tractor back to the farm! He said he had been practicing, I have to say I was impressed.

This was a special day for the Angeles family. All four of their children were being christened. The Christening was held at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Dearborn. Congratulations to Christina, Dora, Victoria, and Ametto on this very special day.

Beth truly enjoyed her entire wedding! We captured so many pictures where she was laughing and smiling. Even though I’m sure she was, she did not look nervous at all! Mike is awesome and together they make a fantastic couple. They were married at Our Lady of the Woods church in Woodhaven and their reception was held at Crystal Gardens in Southgate. In between we went to Heritage Park in Taylor. I love shooting at Heritage Park because it is sooo big and there are so many great textures to work with. Usually in my blog posts I try to include shots that show off great locations, unique poses, beautiful lighting, etc. For Mike and Beth’s pic’s I decided to use some of my favorites of them laughing—it seemed to be the theme of the day : )

John and Jessica held their reception at Fern Hill Country Club. For those who what not been there in a while they have spent some time and money into redecorating and the changes really look good.
John and Jessica were married at.. and in between ceremony and reception we stopped at the Clinton Township civic center park and took pictures. It was a nice little park and since we had some time it was nice and relaxing. I also got to work with Aaron Deckrow and his wife Renee from Captured Productions he is an amazing videoagropher and I highly recommend him to anyone searching. He is extremely talented and super easy to work with.
John and Jessica had a beautiful day and from start to finish they were a pleasure to be around. Congratulations to you both.

One of my favorite things about shooting weddings is that I get to document one of the happiest days of a person’s life. Weddings are always emotion-filled and because I don’t know the couple that well, I can usually take a step back and capture the emotion without getting overwhelmed by it. It’s a little embarrassing to admit that during Kelly and Dennis’ ceremony I had tears running down my face. Kelly, Dennis and their daughter feel truly blessed with each other and that was abundantly clear during their ceremony. It was moving, special and something that everyone involved will remember forever. I wish the three of them the best of luck and even with blurry eyes I hope I managed to capture some of the feelings from the day.
Dennis and Kelly were married at Kensington Community Church in Troy and held their reception at Petruzzello’s.

TJ and Kim were a kick to be around. TJ is so silly and Kim is totally laid back . They make a great mix and a wonderful couple. There were married at St. Mary’s In the Hills church in Lake Orion. Saint Mary’s in The Hills had beautiful grounds, there are lots of old stone walls that work great for pictures. The reception was held at Paint Creek Country Club also in Lake Orion. I loved the color’s Kim chose for her bridesmaids dresses and wedding decor, it was really a beautiful fall wedding.

We had a long day with Tonio and Josette, but if flew by so fast I started at the hair salon where all the ladies were getting their hair and make-up done. I love starting at the salon, some of my favorite pics are the preparation shots!
Josette and Tonio were married at Sacred Heart Church in Dearborn, and their reception was at Webber’s in Ann Arbor., We had a ton of time in between the ceremony and reception so we visited a few different locations. We even braved the campus of the UofM during a home football game! The crazy thing is we ended up finding a parking spot in the exact place we needed to, it was like fate : )
Joseette & Tanios reception was definitely one of the wildest we have ever shot. Their gusts danced and partied all night! I how we were able to capture just a little of the craziness and energy of the evening.

Erin and Jon were married outside in the courtyard of the
Michigan League and they held their reception in the Michigan League Ballroom. Jayson and I woke up to rain that morning with lot’s of gray clouds. It was raining as we packed out equipment in the car, it was raining as we drove to Ann Arbor, and it was raining while we were photographing Erin and Jon getting ready. In some of the shots I took you can see the rain on the windows of the room she was getting in. After I met the event coordinator I asked him what the alternate plan was, since the ceremony was supposed to be outside. He just smiled and said “I’ve never met a bride so determined to be married outside”Well, Erin’s determination was rewarded because as we stepped outside to take pictures it was suddenly sunny and beautiful. The entire bridal party and family walked over to the UofM Law Quad and we were able to get some great shots. The rest of the day flowed perfectly as Jon and Erin held their ceremony outside, and their cocktail and reception upstairs.
As a side note, there were two very memorable vendors from that day…The cake was absolutely fantastic, and made by the grooms mom! And the flowers and centerpieces were beautiful. I would highly recommend Joan from Bridal Blooms if you are in search of great bouquets and arrangements. Her email is joanclaypool@yahoo.com and phone number is 313-350-2463.
