Pop’s Family — 10/07/07

Pop has a big family. With three kids, all married with families, there were a lot of people to work into the photos. I’m pretty sure Pop didn’t care to have the pictures taken at all, but he was really a good sport. Especially since it was HOT. Not just warm, it was HOT. Like middle of July hot.

TJ& Kim— 9/29/07

TJ and Kim were a kick to be around. TJ is so silly and Kim is totally laid back . They make a great mix and a wonderful couple. There were married at St. Mary’s In the Hills church in Lake Orion. Saint Mary’s in The Hills had beautiful grounds, there are lots of old stone walls that work great for pictures. The reception was held at Paint Creek Country Club also in Lake Orion. I loved the color’s Kim chose for her bridesmaids dresses and wedding decor, it was really a beautiful fall wedding.

Tonio & Josette — 9/22/07

We had a long day with Tonio and Josette, but if flew by so fast I started at the hair salon where all the ladies were getting their hair and make-up done. I love starting at the salon, some of my favorite pics are the preparation shots!
Josette and Tonio were married at Sacred Heart Church in Dearborn, and their reception was at Webber’s in Ann Arbor., We had a ton of time in between the ceremony and reception so we visited a few different locations. We even braved the campus of the UofM during a home football game! The crazy thing is we ended up finding a parking spot in the exact place we needed to, it was like fate : )
Joseette & Tanios reception was definitely one of the wildest we have ever shot. Their gusts danced and partied all night! I how we were able to capture just a little of the craziness and energy of the evening.

JT – 9/9/07

JT is the brother of a bride that we are shooting in November. I don’t do a ton of senior pictures, but I really enjoy it. It’s not so rushed as weddings, and after the initial self conciseness the models are always easy to work with. We never have to take breaks for naps or feedings : )
JT was great and I’ll be seeing a lot more of JT and his family in the months to come!

Brennan & Kate — 8/26/07

I met Brennan and Kate downtown for their engagement session. Since Brennan kind of wanted to be married downtown and logistically it did not work out they decided to have the city as the backdrop for their engagement session instead. It was a great August afternoon and I had a wonderful time getting to know Kate and Brennan and I’m excited for their July 08 wedding.

Jon & Erin – 08/25/07

Erin and Jon were married outside in the courtyard of the Michigan League and they held their reception in the Michigan League Ballroom. Jayson and I woke up to rain that morning with lot’s of gray clouds. It was raining as we packed out equipment in the car, it was raining as we drove to Ann Arbor, and it was raining while we were photographing Erin and Jon getting ready. In some of the shots I took you can see the rain on the windows of the room she was getting in. After I met the event coordinator I asked him what the alternate plan was, since the ceremony was supposed to be outside. He just smiled and said “I’ve never met a bride so determined to be married outside”Well, Erin’s determination was rewarded because as we stepped outside to take pictures it was suddenly sunny and beautiful. The entire bridal party and family walked over to the UofM Law Quad and we were able to get some great shots. The rest of the day flowed perfectly as Jon and Erin held their ceremony outside, and their cocktail and reception upstairs.
As a side note, there were two very memorable vendors from that day…The cake was absolutely fantastic, and made by the grooms mom! And the flowers and centerpieces were beautiful. I would highly recommend Joan from Bridal Blooms if you are in search of great bouquets and arrangements. Her email is joanclaypool@yahoo.com and phone number is 313-350-2463.

Jon & Mia – 8/18/07

Jon and Mia were day 2 on our weekend trip to Port Huron. We don’t shoot in the area very often, so it was a nice coincidence to have these two weddings in the same weekend. We also don’t usually shoot two weddings in a weekend, but I am glad we did as we really enjoyed both day’s.

Mia and Jon had both their ceremony and reception at Black River Golf Club. It’s really nice to shoot weddings that have the ceremony and reception in the same place, it makes the day a little more relaxed. One thing we did that was totally out of the ordinary was Jon, Mia, Jayson and I all left after the ceremony and drove about 10 min to the beach to take pictures, while the gusts enjoyed cocktails at the venue. Usually Bride’s and Groom’s don’t want to leave, but they really wanted some shots at the beach. Although it was not as sunny as the previous day I think the overcast weather gave the pictures a more romantic feel. It was a little bit of a hustle, but I think well worth it.

Oh…yes, that is a real butterfly on the groom’s eye. Jon and Mia released butterflies and some of them were less then cooperative to fly away : )

Matt & Heather — 8/17/07

If I were to have my wedding all over again I would want it to be exactly like Heather and Matt’s. The venue, Four Lakes Golf Club was one of my favorites and they had a luau theme that provided endless details for us the photograph. Mother Nature granted them with the most beautiful blue sky with big puffy white clouds. It was really a perfect day and Jayson and I really enjoyed photographing Matt and Heather. Four Lakes is in Kimball, MI (Just west of Port Huron) and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking in that area—it’s a beautiful facility!

What I thought was the best part of Matt & Heather’s wedding was that it was so casual with everyone really getting into the theme. Yet, it was extremely elegant at the same time. Heather did a great job mixing the fun of a luau with the formalness of a wedding!

The McBrian Family – 8/13/07

I shot the McBrian family at Mill Race in Northville. These two kids are so cute and so full of energy. 2-year-olds are though, pretty much anything you ask them to do they make it a point NOT to do. Considering I actually have a 2 year old I have developed an abundance of patience. I think we captured some great stuff, I was such a pretty august day.
