Marc’s mom received a gift certificate form her niece for her baby shower last year. Mary waited until the perfect time to have Marc’s portraits taken. He was able to sit up but not yet crawl away, this makes it so easy to get wonderful timeless portraits. Portrait gift certificates are a GREAT thing to get for mom’s-to-be or even mom’s who already are. It’s really a gift that will be treasured forever.

I’m always searching for fun and interesting places to shoot toddlers. They are my hardest client so I like to get them involved in something that they are going to have fun doing and then try and get some great natural cadids. Dylan, who is usually full of smiles, was not in a “pictures taking” mood today. Going to the sprinkler park in Redford certainly lightened his mood.

I shot the McDonald Family at their home in White Lake. It was such a cold day, with all of the warm weather we have had in December it’s to bad that this day could not have been a little nicer. We were able to capture some nice family shots inside.

I think this was the last warm sunny day of the year. This shoot was actually scheduled for 11/12/06, but it turned out to be such a great day that Dylan’s mom and I met at Mill Race Historical Village in Northville. We got some great shots with the beautiful fall colors. The best smile of the day was him playing with dirt, such a little boy!

The Ibrahim family was so wonderful. Adora and Kenny are the nicest people, and while we were shooting you could really tell that they take great joy in their children. I have to say, the shoot was tough and I’m happy we shot with two photographers. Dominick is the epitome of an 18-month old–he was in constant motion! Luckily I have an 18-month old, so it was really like any day in the Trantham household. Everyone was such a trooper, even at the park. The sun went down so fast and it got COLD, so we wrapped it up quickly but I am glad that we were able to get some really great shots of the kids playing. Adora, thank you so much for allowing us into your home to shoot you, your husband and your great kids!

Maximus is at the perfect age for photographs. At seven months old he can sit up by himself, yet he can’t crawl away! It’s kind of like he’s at my mercy. The fact is for as many outfit and backdrop changes he was put through he did a GREAT job. There are so many wounderful shots from this session it’s had to pick just a few for the blog. Brad and Lora have an absolutly beautiful backyard, and I just love the colors outside. They were also so flexible and open to ideas, thanks so much!

Ten-month-old Elena was so full of personality! She was a pleasure to photograph even when she was crawling away form me–which she spent the better part of the session doing. It was so much fun following her around and trying to capture those great moments where everything comes together. The best part about the session was Elena’s parents really wanted to capture her true self interacting with her environment and the really amazing and special things she does everyday. I find it provides many more opportunities for great images when you allow a baby to be themselves and not force them into a formal posed backdrop. Great job Elena, and a big thanks to her wonderful parents.
