Vella Family — 11/23/07

I think the hardest shoots that I ever do involve a group of young adult children or 20-something’s, and if it includes boys then it’s even harder. The good thing about the Vella family is they made it easy, all three siblings are really photojenic. Their dad arranged the shoot and with everyone’s crazy schedules and one on living out of state, Thanksgiving weekend was the best time. The shoot was quick and hopefully painless for the guys, and I hope their dad will enjoy his family pictures for years to come.

Steven & Jenni — 11/17/07

I feel like part of Jenni and Steven’s extended family. I shot their e-session and then did her brother’s senior’s a few months ago (see JT’s post on September 9th) Anyway, I have gotten to know her and her mom pretty well and I was very excited for their wedding. It was a rainy Saturday, but the great thing about their church is there is a cool area under a roof in front to take pictures. The ceremony was conducted by Jenni’s uncle and was very special. Afterwards we hit the bar for some great pub shots, and continued to the reception at the Northville Hills Golf Club. It is SUCH a pretty place inside! It’s very intimate and romantic, I loved it. It kind of reminded me of Walden Woods.

Cameron & Caleigh — 11/03/07

We had a FANTASTIC fall day for this family shoot. I don’t think it could have gotten much better.  I don’t have any twins in my family and it’s amazing to me how twins can have such different personalities, Camron is so laid back while sister Caleigh has the determination of I totally admire mom Carrie for her juggling skills, she rocks! As a side note dad, Scott, owns an adverting agency in Livonia called Echo Media. If anyone is in need of marketing help, Scott and his crew are super talented and really nice people to work with.

Collin — 10/28/07

I happen to know a few two-year-old boys and there are things they all have in common. They love their dads, they love Spiderman, and they love to play outside. Collin was no exception. I had a great time chasing him around Mill Race Park and once we got to the play structure it was all over! He had a blast playing on all of the equipment with his mom and dad. The funny thing about Collin is he has such adult expressions. Then, as if to humor me, he would turn to me and smile. I think he thought if he gave me a little smile I would leave him alone.

Daniel — 10/28/07

Daniel was full of smiles for his photo session, well mostly ; ) He is also very active little boy with a mind of his own…much like any other two year old. I love this age with kids because everything is new and exciting. He is too cute for words and I had a great time photographing him.

David & Erin — 10/27/08

I shot David and Erin’s engagements back in May and I was SOOOOOO excited to shoot at their family farm again. It is such a cool place with a ton of old barns and machinery. I have to say I was totally bummed that it was so cold, but David, Erin and their bridal party were troopers and let me get everything I wanted : )
I think my favorite moment of the day included neither the bride nor the groom. It rained while the ceremony was going on and everyone was supposed to have a hayride back to the farm, so all the guys in the bridal party were trying to flip over the bales of hay so that they would not be wet to sit on. They were having an awfully hard time, struggling to lift and turn each one over. That’s when Erin’s grandpa, a true farmer, came over and in 2 seconds showed them the proper technique for bale flipping : ) I have no idea why I find that so amusing, maybe it’s because he reminded me so much of my grandpa, a farmer thru and thru.
Another cool moment…the groom drove the tractor back to the farm! He said he had been practicing, I have to say I was impressed.
